Haridwar Part 2

Lovely guesthouse terrace.

The book cabinets that kept me busy for the better part of one afternoon.

Morning chai at a roadside resto.

Haridwar train station.

Laundry drying.

Ganga.

The temple I hiked up to the day before.

Haridwar sunset.

Different direction.

Further along, on my way to Ganga Aarti.

Cross the bridge, almost there.

Along the ghats on the other side.

People ready and waiting for the Aarti.

Strong current, that's why the chains are there.

Crowd getting bigger.

Tall grey Shiva in the background.

Getting darker, almost time.

Greta colors around the temple.

Offering light and flowers to the holy Ganga.

As I was walking away.
(End of Haridwar, leaving early the next morning for the long day of traveling to Mumbai.)

Haridwar Part 1

Bus on the way to Haridwar.

Men who turned around stunned when I started speaking Hindi.

Dry riverbed near where I was staying.

Small bridge nearby.

Still on the bridge.

My long narrow bathroom.

Room in Haridwar.

Main road.

Kids on their way to school.

Outside the internet cafe where I burned these photos onto a CD.

Market road.

Further down.

The Ganga in Haridwar.

River ghats.

Walking bridge.

Laundry day.

Snack time.

Doubling through the market.

Main worship area, where I'd go for Ganga Aarti the next evening.

Crowds in town.

Loaded bike.

Brace painter. (The rope went 3 stories higher, where a guy on the roof held it.)

One of my fave shots.

As I hiked up to the mountain temple.

Lounging.

Hangin' out.

View from the top.

Heading back down in the cable-car.

The last of Rishikesh

Card reading at Amodini's, my 2nd astrologer in Rishikesh, 3 hour session.

Those who know tarrot will know this ain't pretty...

But the final reading: very promising!

Amodini's apartment complex.

At the complex.

View 2 minute walk from Amodini's.

Along the walk home.

Further down - passing my first guesthouse.

Delicious thali at Madras Cafe for my last dinner in Rishikesh.

Along the river ghats.

My friend, the ayurvedic shopkeeper. Went almost every day.

Amit in his stationary shop, right across the street.

Sharma Electronics, just down that road, where I got a few gadgets.

Road leading to Sudesh.

Dung patties drying along the way.

The culprit, I believe, of my e.coli.

Entrance to Trika hall, leaving for the last time, sniff, sniff.

Ayurvedic doctor I went to before going to the hospital.

My daily web spot.

Last walk to Sudesh to get my luggage, sniff, sniff.

Anoop after dropping me off at the bus station. Next post, Haridwar!
